What we keep
Not much, and not for long. Here's what we collect through the forms on this site, why we collect it, who sees it and how you can ask for it back.
In a nutshell
The short version
When you send a booking or an enquiry, we use your details to answer it and to get your evening right, and for nothing else. We don't sell them, we don't swap them and we don't send you anything you didn't ask for. A few weeks after your visit they're deleted from the notebook and the inbox.
The longer version is below, set out in nine short parts. It's written in plain words on purpose, because a privacy page nobody can read isn't doing its job. If something's unclear, ring the front desk and ask, and we'll explain it out loud.
The details
How we handle your personal information
Who's responsible
Personal information collected through this website is handled by the operator of the venue, named on the About page and in the footer. The operator decides why and how it's used, and answers for it. Day to day, that means the front desk on Bair Street, where Vanessa Crawford keeps the bookings notebook and reads the inbox.
What the forms ask for
The booking form asks for your name, e-mail, the night and time you'd like, the number of guests and, if you want, a note about allergies or a birthday. The private-evening enquiry adds an optional phone number. We ask for nothing else, and none of the forms takes payment details of any kind.
Why we ask
We use your details to confirm a table or a seat, to tell the kitchen about allergies, to reply to an enquiry and to ring you if plans change. We don't use them for advertising, for profiling or for any reason unconnected with the evening you asked us to arrange.
Why we're allowed to
You choose to send the form, and ticking the consent box tells us you're happy for the details to be used in the ways described here. Without that tick we can't act on a request, and you can take it back whenever you like by contacting the front desk.
Cookies, briefly
This site stores two small items in your browser, one to remember that you've confirmed you're over eighteen and one to remember your cookie choice. They're named and explained on the Our cookie notes page, and neither holds your name or anything from your booking.
Younger visitors
This website is for adults, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If a parent finds that a child has sent a form, please write to us and we'll remove the entry straight away. Younger guests can come to dinner with an adult, but they shouldn't use the booking form.
Keeping it safe
The bookings notebook stays on the premises, and the inbox is protected by a password that only Vanessa and Owen Byrne know. We take reasonable steps to stop details being lost, misused or seen by the wrong people, and we delete entries once they're no longer needed.
Getting in touch about your data
To see what we hold, correct it or have it deleted, write to the tables address in the footer or ring the front desk. Please give the name and date on your booking so we can find it. We'll reply within a reasonable time and without charge. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which looks after the Australian Privacy Principles.
If this page changes
We may update this page now and then, for example if we change how bookings are taken. The version on the website is always the current one, and a big change will be mentioned at the front desk. We won't do anything with your details that this page doesn't describe.
